A Not So Review of The Karate Kid Movie

The so-called reviewer:  Dessandra Divanadia

Well, last week, 'The Karate Kid' was played for my class at the Audiovisual Room. And now, as we were all told to, I will talk about the movie and what can we learn from the movie.

1. What is the movie about?

The movie is about twelve year old Dre Parker, whose forced to move to China because of his mother's work. On his first day in China, Dre immediately crushing on Meiying, a local Chinese girl. Dre, from what I saw on the film, is a coward. So, when Cheng, Meiying's friend started to bully him, Dre was tried hard to find the way for him to get out from China. But in the end, he met Mr. Han, the enigmatic maintenance man of Dre's building, and learned kungfu from him in order to fight Cheng on a tournament after accept a challenge from Cheng's master.

2. What can you learn from the movie?

There's some things we can learn from the movie. First, never give up; second, face our fear. You can do it slowly, but sure. Your fear will dissapear at last; third, focus. Like what Mr. Han said, we can do anything better than what we expected if we are focus. Forget the happiness, sadness, all your sorrow, clear your mind, and focus!

Obsession: The Fruitless Effort

I was an obsessed mess for the past weeks. It's all started on that rainy afternoon, when my sister and I decided to entertain ourselves by watching some Disney movies. If you are a big fan of Tinkerbell, you must know one of its movie titled "The Lost Treasure". And being a dork I am, my imagination started to create such a lame, childish drama. Think of this: me, being a girl heroine, saving the whole planet from a big disaster caused by my school bullies; me, found a big, gold statue that happen to be England's lost treasure and being all famous and receiving a Noble and predicated MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire). Stupid, right?

So, I told my sister about it. And guess what, she also thought the same thing for the past weeks (which I will know the truth weeks later that she said that only to make fun of me)! So, when my uncle invite us to his son's birthday celebration, we was really happy, because my uncle lives near the beach!

Soon when we arrived on my uncle's house that Sunday, my sister and I went straight to the seashore. We didn't even bother to change our clothes. Then the journey begin. My sister and I walking around the beach, acting like a detective. Acting like a pro.

We walked all day, from day until it's dinner time. My sister finally gave up at five, leaving me all alone, searching for the unexisted treasure until my body collided with something. I don't exactly remember what happened next, but I remember I was crying for the whole night shamelessly.

But now, I'm over that stupid obsession. Why would I want to find a lost treasure if I could be a detective? Yeap, Conan and Holmes inspires me, people. Hey, don't laugh at me. What if your neighbour was a serial killer and killed one of your neighbour before runaway? Who would you call beside the police to solve the problem? Me, the detective.

Dessandra Talks About Her Intelligence

Talker: Dessandra Divanadia (on her living room)

Verbal intelligence. Yeap, I think I've got verbal intelligence. Why? Because I love to talk (some sources says verbal intelligence also included 'talk'), and I love writing (and making a cheesy pick-up lines). My friend and my Bahasa teacher once complimenting my poem and my lengthy story. I think I've got a pretty good musical and visual intelligence too, because I love to sing (and I've got a nice voice too, no offense) and I love to see something and analyze people's characteristics. Beware of my eyes, I know what do you think of.

Like the other human being, I also have a shortage. And poor me, my shortage is on logical intelligence. I can't solve problems as fast as my other friends do, and I can't memorize the formulas in a snap of finger. And that's explain my poor grades at Math and Physics.

Twelve years from now on, I'd love to be a psychiatrist or psychologist or a journalist and writer. Or perhaps I could be four. I'm sure  I will enjoy that two jobs than another job. But I think I prefer to be a psychiatrist. I want to safe people from their hole of depression, mental illness, and their misery (Maybe that's why I have a soft spot for mental disabled).

The Karate Kid

written by: Shafira Alya Ambarasti

The story is about a kid named Dre who just moved from Detroit to China. In China, he fell in love with his classmate, Meiying. Because of his feeling, Cheng -who also liked Meiying and was known as the master of bully in his school- kept bullying Dre. To face Dre's problem, he decided to learn kung fu with Mr. Han. As Dre started feeling proud of his kung fu skills, he accepted Cheng's Teacher's tournament.
Things that we can learn from this movie is that we mustn't give up on our hopes and we have to fight for what we want.

Intelligence

Written by katarina r. wulandari.

I think I've got good visual intellegence because I'm good at drawing. After that my best subject at school are maths and sports. When I got maths problems, and I could finish the problems I very happy. And I like playing football as goalkeeper or playing basketball. So, I think maybe I've got good logical intelligence and body intelligence, too.

And then, I'm not very good at languages, It's difficult for me to memorise new words and to understand the grammar, example I couldn't make a story, I don't get very good marks, but I don't have to be good at everything.

When I finish school, I'd like to be a architect. I think I covered be good at this job because I am good at drawing. Also, architect don't need to used interpersonal intelligence or speak a foreign language.

Intelligences Of Mine

written by: Shafira Alya Ambarasti

I think I've got logical-mathematical intelligence and visual intelligence. Why did I say so? For logical-mathematical, it's because I'm quite good at solving numbers and I often get good scores on math too. And for the visual intelligence, I think I've got this because I'm pretty good at drawing, even though my drawing isn't that good awesome. And... I used to be chosen as one of the traditional dancer when I was still in elementary school but I'm bad at sports, honestly. Does it mean that I've got body intelligence too? Well, perhaps I've got logical-mathematical, visual and a half body intelligence!
Of course everyone has something they aren't good at. So am I. You can say that I'm the worst at sports (except swimming, for this one you can say that I'm a kind of good at it. lol). And then, I'm also bad at music. Why? I've been joining a piano course for like 3 years but my skill on piano DOESN'T EVEN INCREASE. I would be crazy if I had to continue my 3 years life with playing piano in the future. Sorry if I was too much. Could you imagine how bad I am?
When I finish my school, I'd like to be a doctor (just like what I've said on the introduction post before). I think I could be good at this job because to be a doctor, it needs a logical-mathematical intelligence. A doctor also has to be good at drawing human organs, doesn't it? So it needs a visual intelligence as well.
